Mother Earth as our sacred commons

edited by Dick Hogan July 2010

The objective

In 4 years: Reach general agreement, acknowledgment and partial implementation of:

All Our Relations becoming in deep unity with nature and Mother Earth as a sacred commons, (not a commodity), and nurturing nature in profound reverence, deep healing and a mutual  perpetual learning presence with all, as a single community of life with steadily increasing biological and cultural diversity. Design for the stability, diversity and resilience of natural ecosystems and eventually, similar in cultivated ecosystems. Substantially reduce mining and extractive behaviors world wide. (see mining law of 1866).

Call forth an inclusive robust support for a diversity of regenerative methods to aggressively implement community-based regenerative development, via the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), including local and broad scale Permaculture, through local Permaculture centers in all watersheds, with special attention to the empowerment of women, children, youth, and all manner of refugees and extreme poverty. Establish a world-wide capacity building of regenerative design, conservation and training for all water, soil fertility, forest health, community health, community and watershed based  regenerative economies, livelihoods and jobs.

Establish all species' genetic integrity and human population stabilization. Establish the full rights of Mother Earth, nature and her people. Establish the moral, ethical, legal and financial foundations for food, water, shelter, land equity, security and sovereignty for all. Establish conscientious protection of the global commons, slowing (then reversing in the long term) the rise of atmospheric, land and water borne pollutants. Develop truly appropriate technologies readily accessible to all. Everything mentioned here substantially diminishes needs for clean renewable energy sources then properly configured and integrated.

Remove the destructive pressure on nature via creating and redesigning  human communities to deeply center as resilient and self-reliant populations at home to profoundly reduce transport costs/impacts, to further help re-balance earth processes. Focus restoration and re/generation initiatives in the disturbed urban, suburban and rural landscapes of the world co-creating and co-evolving within bioregions, watersheds, foodsheds, neighborhoods ......,  healthy sustainable communities.

Commit to love, truth, non-violence and a deep centering presence and outreach. Promote human modes of interaction and decision making  through a wholistic "sense of the meeting" process (1), thus further "reducing" the occasion for violent behavior and war of all kinds while catalyzing inclusive multi-level and dimensional Peace building strategies as planetary co-evolutionary beings,  Being Peace.
